We recently spent a grand weekend in OKC at our first homeschool convention. Had a blast! One great thing I was reminded of is that when your child wants to read and reread her favorite book she is trying to memorize it.
Since we've been home, every night for two weeks it's been Oscar's Book (usually twice in one night) and singing the twelve days of christmas. DD's favorite part of Oscar is the last page. He says he likes having someone to complain to and at the part where we "really make him mad" we close the book real fast like we're cutting him off and then we just laugh it up at Oscar's expense. Then it's off to all twelve verses of our beloved Christmas tune. It must be noted that dd wants to stop at every page to count the nine ladies dancing, eight maids a milking, seven...you know, all the while prodding me on to sing until she stops to count the next line of our dear true love's gifts.
Much to my delight, she is committing the song to memory and should have it down by Christmas!

That's funny - at your house, it's been Oscar. At our house, it's been Grover in "The Monster at the End of this Book." :) Gotta love classic Sesame Street.
Oooh...we have that one. I bet I could get her hooked on that one. If only I could convince her to pass on Oscar for one night!
