We've installed the wood in our entry and still have most of the kitchen to complete. We are working with engineered hardwood; the top layer is real wood and the bottom few layers are plywood. It's tongue and groove so it goes in very easily. I say that, but we've had a few hang-ups, if a board doesn't fit completely, we take it out--not so easy. Primarily, it is easy work but very time consuming. For example, Thursday we had six hours to work in the kitchen. We completed a lot of difficult cuts and picture number two is what we finished in the six hour time frame. Doesn't look like much, huh? All under the refrigerator and in the pantry. Looks fabulous and is worth the effort of doing it ourselves. I would recommend, if you have the time, to save the thousands of dollars on labor.

Looks lovely!
Maybe, since you figured out a pattern that works, when we're ready to do this, we'll just use your pattern and do it ourselves. :P
