The baby woke up today with spots.  Some small and round, some big and blotchy.  Hmmm.  Called my local doctor mom and she suspected an allergy to the meds he was taking.  After getting off the phone, my ds told me he and dd had prayed for baby's spots to go away and, in his own words and with much disappointment, "It didn't work; they're still there!"  Through my laughter and joy at the thought of them praying on their own for something so important, I had to explain that prayer isn't a magic potion for curing ills.

So the next order of business for the day was to get everyone wrangled and off to the urgent care.  Dh was convinced to go with and the kids were strangely excited about going.  My thought was, "This can be part of our school for the day since they are so eager to take baby to the doctor."  They were talking amongst themselves about baby and his spots and now I was getting excited that this could be a great experience, even though we had been to the doctor numerous times.  We pulled up to the urgent care facility and from the back of the car we hear, "Yay, now the doctor can take his spots away!"  I guess they thought if God wouldn't do it when they asked, that the doctor would see to it.

So Spot Boy, as he is currently named, has an allergy to the amoxi/clav he was on for an ear infection.  This was day nine of a ten day antibiotic.  He's also had amoxicillin twice before with no adverse effects.  Apparently this is typical.  We are going to watch some foods he had the day before.  Eggs for one, maybe rice.  First time for both.  All is well and he is sleeping soundly now.  Tomorrow Spot Boy will be getting lots of extra hugs and kisses.
