She sees in Color

Funny how each child has their own way of communicating. I've always been aware that my 2 1/2 yo dd is very interested in art, but just recently I've come to a new revelation about her. She refers to objects solely by their color. When she wants something, she refers to it only by its color. For instance, today she was using an orange cup. She called to me, "Mama, I want my orange." I have to put two and two together to figure out what on earth she's describing.

This is a fairly recent development. She has been ahead in the area of communication; she could say her abc's and count to 14 by the time she was 1 1/2 yo and has been speaking in complete sentences since that time. So I'm baffled now that she can't tell me exactly what she wants. Can't...or won't. Could it possibly be that she has come into her own little language about color? I would say I wish I knew, but I actually like not knowing what goes on in her mind. She is what God created her to be and seeing her develop into her own person is so much fun!
